Our senior pastor, Hughey Reynolds, came to Latham in June of 2005 from Birmingham, Alabama where he was the senior pastor
of Highlands United Methodist Church for four years. A son of a bi-vocational Methodist Circuit preacher and the grandson
and great grandson of Congregational pastors, Hughey began pastoral ministry as a student in the Roanoke District of the North
Alabama Conference in 1973. He finished high school in Wedowee, AL, holds a BA from Birmingham-Southern College, and Master
of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Candler School of Theology, Emory University. As a Dixon Fellow at Emory
in 1986, Hughey discovered Biblical Storytelling which he has continued to study and practice in preaching. He participated
in a Methodist Education Leave Society peer group for four years and facilitated two other groups for a total of twelve years.
Hughey believes strongly that the Great Commission given by Jesus is the mission of every church and that making
disciples of Jesus Christ is the reason the church exists. As that mission is fulfilled, not only will the church be a place
were all people are welcome and can discover, develop and use their gifts in ministry to God and others, but Latham, Huntsville,
and the world will be transformed as we share Jesus with them. Hughey sees the pastor's role as keeping that Biblical mission
primary in every aspect of the church's life--worship, programs, pastoral care, finance and administration.
He is married (1975) to the former Sandy Jones of Ashland, AL. They have two sons, Christopher (b.1978) and Jonathan
(b.1982). Hughey enjoys days off on the farm in Clay County, daily jogs with his Black Lab “Lunar” and
cheering with Sandy for the Auburn Tigers.

in the Great Commission..."Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and
of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you." Matthew 28:18-19.
